James Lee's THE BEAUTIFUL WASHING MACHINE just won the Best ASEAN Feature Film Award at the Bangkok International Film Festival.

It beat 13 other films from around the region including 2 that were submitted to the American Academy Awards: THE CRYING LADIES (The Philippines) and PUTERI GUNUNG LEDANG (Malaysia), and the Cannes 2004 selection WOMAN OF BREAKWATER (Philippines).

This is the second time the Best ASEAN Film Award has been given. Last year's winner was LAST LIFE IN THE UNIVERSE (Thailand).
