Dear friends,

This is not a joke, pls pay attention!

I was having my breakfast with a HSBC staff this morning near a coffee shop next to Centre Market KL. The hawker there told us recently there is a gang of Filipino pick pocket (10-20 people) who walk & work in a pair of four. Always try to steal or rob handphone (although it is in your pocket!) wallet (in ladies handbags or pocket!)

Strategies/Incident 1: There is always a guy (A) walking in front of the victim, then suddenly (A) squat down & pretends to pick up something or puts his hand on his foot/toe. Then 2 others (B & C) from the back follow the victim closely, when the 1st guy (A) squats, the victim's 1st reaction is to stop suddenly (to avoid colliding with A). The 2 pick pockets (B & C) from the back will pretend to collide with the victim & at the same time put their left & right hands into victim's pocket to take his handphone & wallet. Within a second, A, B & C will appologise or just walk away. After a few seconds, victim will realise that hiw handphone & moneyare gone

Incident 2: A business man who withdrew 10 to 50,000 from bank in Jln Tun H S LEE, once came out from the bank & crossed the road, 2 guys walked in front of him & another 2 from the back. Same thing, suddenly the front guys squatted down...1 of them pulled the victim legs..so that he cannot walk & just stood there...the other 2 from the back will just rob/take away the money from the victim's pocket or hand-carry envelopes.

Hot Spots: According to sources, this group of pick pockets hang around:

1. Kota Raya
2. S & M Complex
3. Centre Market
4. Bangkok Bank
5. Jln Silang (in front of ex Metro Sinar Kota, now is Mydin)
6. Putra LRT (Central market station)
7. Pudu Raya
8. Tun HS Lee Road (Near RHB Bank, Maybank)
9. UOB Bank in small clock tower
10.Soon will be in Petaling St/China Town.

I think it's the same group that pick pocketed me on a bus. Very slick with the hands. You don't feel it at all.

Please be alert.

Regards.

Hassan Muthalib
