THE BIG DURIAN at SUNDANCE 2004 (15-25 January)

Amir Muhammad's The Big Durian has become the first Malaysian movie to be selected for the famous Sundance Film Festival (Jan 15-25) in the USA.

The festival is organised by The Sundance Institute, established in 1981 by actor Robert Redford. It has since become the premier venue for American independent cinema, and has launched the careers of Quentin Tarantino, Steven Soderbergh, Robert Rodriguez, and many others. In recent years, the festival has expanded its focus to also place emphasis on non-American works. The Big Durian screens in the International Documentary section, held for the second time. At the festival, Amir will also take part in an international panel on the controversial subject of "hybrid" (documentaries that use fiction) films.

More information on the festival can be found at http://festival.sundance.org/
